Modern cockpit for the King

'99 King Kahuna here. It's been posted before, but not in a long while.

I seriously modernized my too-nice-to-abandon 26" FS bike not long ago (wide bars/short stem/+20mm fork/dropper/1x10/fat tubeless, on a 100mm Pivot Mach 4) and I'm loving it. But I still use my Kona SS conversion, which was feeling crazy long and narrow in comparison. So I matched the cockpit. Better (for actual trail use) for sure...more stable and so much stiffer! The whole rig is a hair under 22lbs with 80mm SID & (light) Schwalbe 2.25s. So fun!

Went from period-correct all-Ti 570mm Syncros flat bars on a 135mm Ibis stem to modern Al 720mm ODI risers on a 100mm Easton (would have gone shorter maybe if new, but I had this one in the drawer). The original set is also now in the drawer (an easy swap, as the Ultimate levers don't require grip removal) and not for sale, sorry! Love the metal through the 'clear' grips...gotta get some for the new bars.
