1986 Bob Jackson 531c, finished ! !

Re: Re:

You're welcome Mike glad you didn't have to polish it like a mavic starfish  [/quote]

No, this only needed a little bit of polish mate!

Re:

I finally sent the frameset off today, for a few adjustments and a lick of paint! Getting excited already!
Sad, or child-like?

Or both?

All parts are ready for it, apart from the lovely fluted seatpost I have to polish up. Nice one Clive! ;)

Re: 1986 Bob Jackson 531c

It’s murder waiting for paint! Clean and polish parts, sourcing cables and small parts, polish a bit more....

Is that Benotto tape?

Re:

Yes it is Benotto tape, had it for at least 20 years!
Not got cables yet, white is most likely I think

Re:

I bought some new red Benotto off eBay for about £7 for my next build and then bit the bullet and bought some white for a whopping £25 a couple of weeks ago.

I figured that modern tape is £15-20 so I’d get it while I could

Re:

Ouch! That's a lot.

I think mine was only a few pounds, but like I say, that was some years ago.

White is rare & when it comes up is not cheap.. still looking for white fir my build.

Re:

In that case I'm glad I got a few rolls in the early '90s. This being my last one.
Everything is ready to go on now, apart from the tyres, but I have to true the wheels up in the bike before they go on

Re:

Looking good Mike,

when do you expect the frame to land ?

Benotto tape has been a favourite since the 80s, often manage to pick it up at jumbles for around £7 - £10.

Jon.
