The Hairy Coo returns – with added unusual!

Fancy something different from your local bike race? So do we!

The Hairy Coo mountain bike races are back with a bang, and this year we are celebrating bicycling diversity, with a bunch of new race categories for you get your teeth into.

Held at the award winning trails at Comrie Croft – voted Ibikerides Trail Centre of the year 2016 - the Coo is back to basics bike racing over a specially selected course, held on Sunday 8th October

We know that not everyone is riding the traditional XC style that the Hairy Coo has become synonymous with, so we have opened up this years event to invite you try racing your “alternative” bike, with categories and prizes for folk entering on any of these…

Fat Bikes – that’s a 3.5” wide tyre and above, on the wee race course with some Fat Bike specific sections to test your skills

Retro Bikes – Any mountain bike with a frame dating from the year 2000 back… sponsored by Ride Retro MTB, over some retro suitable trails

E-Bikes – Your chance to try out your E-MTB in a race setting – must be limited to UK 15mph assist – we’ll be checking! Over the big race course

Singlespeed – anything with a single gear, also over the big race course

Also all the old favourites...

Bairns Race – fast and furious fun on two specially designed courses for under 12s (40 minutes) and under 8s – (30 minutes) to complete as many laps as they can in the time. Once again this will be part of the popular Big Tree Campervan race series. There will also be a wee balance bike course for all the tiny tots.

Wee Race – a one hour blast over the lower slopes of the croft trails, suitable for kids aged 12 upwards (also part of the Big Tree Campervan Series), and anyone who wants to experience the fun of bike racing without going for the full bhoona

Big Race – approximately 2 hours racing over a specially chosen course designed to test your skills and stamina at the UKs top rated trail centre

You can enter online at https://www.droverstryst.com/events/mountain-biking/ This event has its own insurance, no need for any racing license, just rock up and test yourself!

This year will see a start/finish arena down at the low meadow, with catering available from the excellent onsite Tea Garden café
