Can anyone help me identify my bike?

Retro Newbie
just joined the forum, so first of all - Hello.

I have had a route around and there are some lovely bikes on here that made me think that I must be in the right place to try and establish what my own bike is!

So putting this out here in the hope that some one might know something!

I bought the bike in 2002 I think and was it's third owner.

The story from the vendor (to be believed or not) is that he got it from his mate who raced downhill for the Iron Horse team.

The frame is carbon fibre and the swing arm is SERIOUSLY strong (totally over engineered) and completely negates the use of carbon fibre, but hey I expect these were the early days of CF.

It it built up on Hope/ Mavic wheels, XT all round pretty much and hope brakes - all period.

The only thing I changed was the adding a couple of other wheel set options, adding the FOX float rear shock and getting an iron horse sticker set for it. it has also had new service bits over the years.

There is a part number of BM9 - 0937 - I have called Iron Horse in the US but no joy as they didn't hold records apparently.

Attached are some pics (apologies for the dirty bike)

Swingarm mount

Code

Swing Arm

Possible Relation could be this (just based on position and engineering of swing arm)

That is all I have... hoping some one some where might know a little more.

Thanks in advance

Jes

it feels like a hybrid of a trek Y bike and a Trek VRX

Yeah that is what I thought - but it is so different in so many other ways.

I was told it was one of three in existence - but again hear say!
