Is it just a distortion from the close-up photo, or is the head angle very steep with that fork? It'll be interesting to know how you find the steering. Although judging from the age of the frame (95ish?), it'd be surprising if he built it for a longer fork than that, as they were all much the same travel back then.
The one thing I would change is the stem. I'm sure the bike would have been designed for something lower and longer. And when you've got a head tube that long, mightn't you find a riser stem is too much of a good thing?
