I used to sell Saracen's in 1995 at Wheelbase in the Lake District. We also hired them out up at Grizedale. Seem to remember the paint job was covered in this sort of plastic overcoat that pealed if scratched...

Did I just post here...

....and it disappeared.

Or am I in denial?

Think I have an early Saracen fetish.

My name is Richard. The 12 pedals start here.

Saracen Tufftrax

I had an early Tufftrax. It was a 89 model which i changed most of the stuff to XT 2.Even had Mavic MA40 rims with were a nightmare to change tyers with.It was my first mountain bike and was fantastic first bike untill someone nicked it in Leighton Buzzard.

Its gone all quiet here

My early Saracen love is still here

Mine is still sitting behind my desk, looking like it does above
Got some very cool parts for it and i'll hopefully get around to the repaint soon.

Had a Saracen Conquest Elite with Tange switchblade forks & was my first serious mtb.
Very striking design with it's e-stays and box section down tube.
Alas I sold it to buy my first car
