GT STS 1000 DS (another one !)

One thing: children dream...


What can I say!?

Few years ago, I’ve purchased a GT STS 1000 DS 18” frame kit from a friend with the aim to rebuild it with end of 90’s and/or beginning of 2K's components.

One target: to realize my children dream!

Years have passed and it gathers dust…

But one year ago, I have had a “brain wave” when seeing the following bike on Google!

So, it was the time to me to run engine and engaged the 1rst gear of the project.
I have really fully engaged the clutch 2 months ago by searching spare parts and components mainly on eBay.

Rock Shox Judy DH 1996

Freshly rebuild !

I've cleaned all the parts, cartriges like new (oil change 5WT + new seals).
But... Impossible to find someone to change the bushings... The coating of the tube stanchion is partially gone (not much fork service I think...)
All parts were lubricated with Redrum, 5WT oil and RSP slick grease!

The crown was cleaned with "Belgom Alu"

Little upgrade: titanium screws for the crown and the arch.





I have hesitated between this one and the legendary Marzocchi Bomber Z1 CR (in orange).
But this second one was for me too massive for the "STS line" and too heavy...
So, it may be for sale soon!

A classic one!
Pick up from my father bike (Diamond Bike V-Link 1.1 custom)
Like new, but missing one O-ring... If someone have the specs?

Advice need :!:

In your opinion, what is the best choice for the rear derailleur : medium or long cage ?

I know that there is a constraint on tooth capacity (also called total capacity in Shimano tech documents):
- SGS (long cage): 43T
- GS (medium cage): 33T
Total capacity = maximum chainring difference + maximum cassette cog difference

But what is the exact definition/need under it ?

Shimano XTR drivetrain

Not original, an other classic: the Shimano XTR M952/M953 drivetrain !
Not a real dream, because I've already ride this drivetrain in the past on my old Voodoo Bokor (RIP, crack on the chainstay...)

Compare to my XX1 drivetrain on my 2K14 Zaskar Team, it's as much as accurate !
