Bad day at the shop

Jeez, I'm in such a bad mood tonight.
Really foul mood after spending 10 hours at work, with nothing but knuckle dragging Neanderthals in my shop grunting about some shite wine or another...why oh why have I spent years developing my palate and knowledge when all people want is......(insert any industrially produced wine brand on the market)....or
....people who don't have the grace to reply with a 'hello' when they enter
....people who eat in the shop (I kick them out)
....people who talk on their mobile whilst wanting to be served
....people who ask for advice, then promptly ignore it

Retail.......SUCKS

Gonna have dinner now, glass of wine and watch the qualifying..

Rant over...thanks for listening :D

Your last poitn sucks worst of all - why go to a specialist and ask advice if you know what you want? There is nothing I like more than getting the wine waiter to choose the wine to match my meal - the smile you get is worth the premium over the wone you would normally have bought.

On a wine-related note, have you tried any of the Chandon Estate Ozzie Sparkling wine? Think it was marketted as Green Point over here. I just love the idea of drinking Champagne (sorry, sparkly!) from a bottle with a beer-bottle-top!

that sounds just like my day in estate agency!

idiots everywhere who do not listen, pisstakers trying to offer on houses for 50% less, donkeys viewing houses when they have no chance of selling their own and lastly, a crazy ass old lady who cared only that hedgehogs could get into her back garden rather than worrying about whether or not the house actually suited her!

Retail.......SUCKS

I kick eaters out too

I don't serve people who are on their phone, I wait for them to finish. If they say anything I (politely!) point out that they're being rude

I also have a thing about people who put money on my counter rather than in my hand, I do the same to them back and if they say anything I say "oh sorry, I thought you must have an issue with contact or something"

Basically I give as good as I get... don't let 'em get to ya! :D

i left retail for similar reasons, but another thing you missed off the list is kicking people out of the shop for not wearing a t shirt or whatever.

I DON'T WANT TO SEE YOUR UGLY/FAT/HAIRY/SPOTTY/BLOKE/PIKEY BODY!

why do they think anybody wants to see it.

in 17 years of retail, 2 weeks before i leave i finally tell a customer to EFFF OFF!!! it was liberating!! :D

i feel for you my friend, i got out, one day you will to!

   I did that last year, two guys kicking off in my shop 'cos one had pushed infront of the others wife in the queue.... they were shouting at each other so I told them both to leave. One went and the other wouldn't go so I physically removed him. He continued to argue the toss with me in the street so I just told him to efff off, screwed a 'banned from...' letter up and threw it at his head

That was the talk of Paignton for a day or 2

Surprised that didnt make local tv and newspaper news down there :D

Consider your self lucky

I've spent 15yrs in retail butchers shops, for the last ten i refused to work the front shop,i cant stand the people who come in to buy, theyre so cheeky,
the owner made a very positive attempt to decapitate his son ,1 eve while drunk
It suprised me he never went for a customer as he blamed them for his business failings
I once got a job in a butchers up in isle of Skye, the guy i replaced went loopy loo one day with 2 big slaughterman's steak knives[14"]managed to wound two customers and a passerby before the cops got him down

I left all the trade and went to work in a nice quiet furniture makers workshop where everybody is nice and we listen to pleasant music on the radio
:D

i hate tie wasters that come into my bike shop and ask my advice and what size they need then walk out the door and two weeks later say

"your a trek/giant/others dealer you have to warrenty my mail order bike that i brought as it was a whole £10 cheaper than you online that i have f**ked seting up if you dont im gonna phone them up complain and bad mouth you round town"

i love to then giving them an estimate and watching there little face's drop at the cost i politly say its not my problem take it up with who you brought it from and laugh when they come back and say that the mail order people told them to plant it as it wasn't set up proply by the customer and its there fault     it makes me so happy to see numptys get burnt

once in a blue moon i get a kid who is cheeky......as i dont stand for lip i can yell at them(mostly i just spend ten minutes telling them off in front of all the other kids) never failed yet.....strangely they end up behaving and being the best students i have ......so far any way.crosses fingers.
