Devout Dirtbag
I have a muddy fox, a real one, if I remember correctly about 1994, its a prestige steel frame but I can't remember the model, I am thinking its an ultra lite? Would this be about right? Its an ultra something but I am looking so I can restore it to as original as poss, it was a dark green, and a nice frame to ride.

If you can enlighten me i would be greatful :D

I will get one over the weekend and post it, I was hopng it would be a name that sprang to mind, as soon as its mentioned I will know. Its an ultra something but for the life of me I cant remember, I had plans to restore it as it had seen better days so it has a rough coat of primer on to keep the rust at bay

There's tange ultralite tubing, the Muddy Fox Monarch Pro uses this tube set.

P.s. primer is porous & will not protect against corrosion.

You sir are a legend, that's the one,

I am aware that primer was not the best but it was all I had and was better than the bare metal (patchy) that was on it when I got it, and it has been stored inside ever since

Its it worth doing a resto on? I remeber it was quite a nice ride even in the state it was when I got it however many years ago it was.

Well it's been a long time coming, but I have finally got the frame back from be shot blasted, and have managed to get some paint on it.

I have now got my hands on a pair of wheels, and a headset arrived last week, so I just need to start rebuilding.

Thats a nice colour but have you clear coated it and if not will you be putting decals on then doing a clear coat to help protect both the paint and decals as the paint will chip quite easily ..

When that was taken, there was no clear coat, there is now. With decals

Really struggling to get the seatpost to fit, I would have thought 27.2, but if that goes in, it's never coming out again, would it be 27mm?

I honestly don't know the correct sizing seat post for your Muddy Fox but if 27.2 seems a tad tight then a 27" should fit as i think a 27.8 is whats in my Raleigh and it should be a 27.6 so luckily i have got the correct size for mine but still need to swap it over when i'm able to .

Good to see you've got the frame finished off with decals and clear coat and i'd really love to see it mate but yes try a 27" seat post and you should be okay with that unless some one else on here knows the proper sizing is different ..

.

This is it with decals and clear coat. Fitted the headset last night, and looking for some old bit out of the box of tricks in the shed,

I found,
Some XT shifter/brake units
LX rear mech
XT rear mech
2 x XT front mechs,
Some DX thumbies
Some STX V brakes,
Some XT cantis
An XT chainset

So should be able to make something out od those, just need to get this pest of a seat post sorted.
