Morning Folks,

Have heard a few mentions of Chicksands recently and decided to google it to see where it was. Its about 1hr 30 from where I live in Bury St Edmunds and I was just wondering if it was worth the journey for the riding?

Do many people ride there? Can anybody elaborate on what sort of trails are available?

I've lived in East Angia for nearly a year and have only really ridden Thetford or travelled out of the region.

Please help!

Cheers,

mark

Then this >>

It's a pukka bike park http://www.chicksandsbikepark.co.uk/ and is small but perfectly formed....there's a few miles of nice twisty singletrack through open woodland, closely planted trees and the invevitable/obligatory ferns and stingers. There's North Shore, Freeride, bombholes, 4X, Dual Slalom, trials......everything really

There's 5 or 6 of us that ride every week on a Thursday night, 6pm til 8pm, you'll need good lights this time of year!!!

Weekends it's full of kids on 7" travel and often hosts national 4X and Dual Slalom competitions so is very very busy, plus there is a small entry fee to pay. As far as I know riding midweek is free and much more fun as we get the place to ourselves more or less.

Come up one Thursday, its non competitive and very social :)

I live 50 miles away and go every week ;)

Chicksands is very similar to Thetford but much much smaller and with short steep hills.

The year is 1993, October, overcast:

Thetford: 1x brand new Zaskar - about 3 days old + Thetford bombhole =

perfect somersualt - hahahahah!

The year is 2003-ish

rebuilt Zaskar, Chicksands, Summer - Old git on 8 inch travel monster asks why my bike is so clean and tidy.

ask to pay a charge for riding their crap jumps - politely told them where to to place said route. ;)

rode my own route - bundle of larffs!

If you could change it to a Wednesday night - I could show you how to fall off correctly...
