Old School Grand Master
... nine speed make an appearance? The Bontrager has it fitted whith mainly XT stuff but with an XTR chainset. The result is it shifts less reliably than any set up I have ever had! The culprit is I think the rear mech. When you shift into the largest of the rear sprockets the mech elongates and looks 'stretched'. When you shift into higher gear, ie the smaller sprockets, rather than springing back from the dropout pivot, it stays put in the stretched position. The result seems to be it chashes down into the granny ring when not asked!

Truth be told I would rather have an eight speed set up but can do without the expense of changing everything. I want to rplace the mech with an XTR one but don't like the new shaped X mech.

Is there a better looking XTR option in 9 speed config?

I have edited the old thread rather than start anew one quite yet..

Quick Question:

Is this a M952 NINE gear mech? If I'm going to bid, unless any of you fine people have anything similar.
