Interest to hear feedback on this.

The site was setup as retrobike.co.uk and initially publicised as such.

Have owned retrobike.net for a while.

Both retrobike.co.uk and retrobike.net can be used to access any page on the entire site.

So the question is should i stay true to the roots of the site and publicise the site as retrobike.co.uk. Does .co.uk make people think this is a UK specific site?
Or should I publicise the site as the non country specific retrobike.net.

.net means you couldn't afford either the .co.uk or .com ;)

Who's got the .com incidentally? Just did a WHOIS but I think it's just parked with NetSol..?

Dunno. Am aware of the 17th Jan deadline though... ;)

.co.uk - call me blinkered but I like the fact that it's a very British-feeling site (in terms of general humour and feel), so it's nice that the url reflects that...

Yeah I like .co.uk, there are plenty of non-UK members which shows it isn't putting them off!

I've put retrobike.co.uk stickers on my bikes now !

besides, if you change it you would have to chuck any of the sticker sets or clobber you've had printed away wouldn't you

you could always have it set up so that the SAME forums can be acessed from both URL's. that way when people do a google search, there is more of a chance for them to find us here :D

plus it just gets everything out there that much more. obvisouly, a .com would be ideal, but its taken.

Thanks for the feedback on this chaps.

No intention of losing the retrobike.co.uk identity or domain name. May also start pushing as .net (or .com if I get it) to try and attrach a few more foreign users.

Guess .net isn't too popular. Anyone know how to register domains when the existing users 'lease' expires?

The site is currently setup so as you can reach from .co.uk or .net

It will only get decent search rankings through one name though - Id stick with "advertising" the co.uk one to maximise its rankings within google.
