Its the "cool wall" issue!!!
Just cos it looks/works good/crap doesnt mean its uncool/cool. Its a ridiculous idea but its in the same league as the following:
Elevated stay bikes
Disk Drives
U-brakes
Anodised stuff
Barends
Flat bar (no bends at all)
Long, flat stems
Long seatposts
Coloured tyres in general
Konas
