It's 1995 Brodie eXpresso

Hi all,
Three months ago I moved to Sweden from Bosnia and Herzegovina. I had a lot to do, same as any other person that comes to new country, so my passion for retrobikes had to wait.
Now that things have settled I decided that the time has come for decent restoration project.

I was on a lookout for Klein Attitude or Rocky Mountain Vertex. I was looking for restoration project, didn't want to just take finished bike, because that's no fun, right? Also I find it more interesting when I look for cheapest possible option, it is not about the money it is about finding those hidden treasures - if you know what I mean.

So as I was browsing through this sea of ads where people sell a lot of bad bikes, I was just about to quit and wait another day when I stumbled upon this lovely thing.

It was no Klein nor RM but I didn't mind, in fact, this was even better!

It is Brodie eXpresso!

From these pictures I would say it is '96 model, but I would like to hear what you guys think.

The thing is, the bike is still back home in Bosnia and Herzegovina and it will take a lot of time and money to get it here just as it took a lot of time (but surprisingly little money) to get it to where it is now. For now I can offer you guys only pictures made by previous owner and abomination he made of the bike.

When I get it here I'll inspect it better and give it all the love it needs!

Re:

congrats! registering for updates.

details look to be similar as this one. however yours looks like it has a cable guide in the back for canti brakes, while this doesn't. so maybe yours is pre 96. it also has a curved rear bridge, does yours?

Re: It is Brodie

According to catalogue pictures this should be '96.

Here is catalogue scan from our beloved forum: http://www.retrobike.co.uk/gallery2/d/2568-2/1996.pdf

I'll have closer look via Skype tomorrow so I'll let you know what kind of seatstay bridge it has and when it gets to Sweden I'll take some better pics. I seems as it is 19". I hope it is either 18" or 19" as previous owner didn't know how to measure it and tbh I didn't care that much.

I just wanted to save it!

I am also trying to find out what equipment it came with as I would like to make it catalogue correct otherwise it will at least be period correct!

seat stay bridge on the OP's looks straight to me.

Yea they do look straight on these pics, but I'll check it for sure really soon. The thing is that '96. model has curved bridge and these type of curved cable stops while earlier models do not have this type of cable stops...

Where in Sweden?

Jönköping for now and moving to Växjö soon.

Re: It is Brodie

Also I am looking at these photos from catalogue and photo of first frame, the one without color, shows frame with straight bridge...I am just not sure and I will just have to wait for saturday to see it first hand.

I am not sure about cranks or anyother component it does look like middleburn tho...

Close to Braås, where we have one of our factories (Volvo CE). Based in Eskilstuna myself.

Re: It is Brodie

So I made a little progress on identifying year this bike came from;

I has straight seatstays and straight seatstay bridge which makes it not '96.

but also has those oval shaped cable stops which makes it newer than '94.

Here is pic of CNCed dropouts

I am going to say it is '95. ;)

and it appears these are Middleburn RS-1 cranks… nice! And probably XT 737 front derailleur.

Those are only things I will not change on this bike :)
