Trimble Collection

Going back to paintwork I always thought that Black with red metal flake and s**t loads of clear laquer would be the sweetest pain job for a trimble.

Jez, You seem to know a bit about these, In 'Richards Ulitimate bicycle book' there is a monocoque MTB with 'Radical' written on the main boom. It's black with early RC-30's and XCPro. Is it a Trimble? It sure looks like one!

Yup , I've seen that one too really wierd cantilever action on the back end.
have been trying to track down some details about this 'Radical' bike but I haven't found anything :(
deffo not a trimble tho.

as goes paint, I think there is a ford magazine out at the moment with a tricked out mk1 escort thats got a nice black/orange metal flake bonnet on it.
looks kinda cool

The plot thickens! :?

I'll try and find out too, be interesting to see what it is!

Interesting....

Ive fiddled with the Trimble now so it rides a lot better than it did - including sorting out the shifting issues (xcpro with sram cassette and pauls mechs so you can imagine the er..shifting action..)

Anyway - has anyone actually got one on here apart from me? I only ask as I have a question about how the chain passes the right chainstay - there is an indent that allows for the chain to sit on the lowest gears without rubbing the stay. Im just wondering how close does teh chain need to be to this? Anyone with a Trimble will be able to tell.

Just looked at mine 48-11 8spd set up in top it's about 3mm from the frame, never rubs but chain slap will chip the paint off  .

I saw one of those seat post mast bits snap off at the MHC, I think '92? He was doing trials on it, not wise.

I think trimble quoted me a 14 stone weight limit which was'nt a problem for me back in 91, but now in 06 that is a big problem

Heres how mine looks in the middle ring/11 tooth(i coud'nt be bothered to take it down off the wall to put it in top).

I really want some gallery feature on this site. I could post so many pic of builds and componentry.

Anyway - heres a load of trimble pics that I uncovered (mainly from MTBR) just as a reference. Look at all the funky paintjobs....

Hey Jez, great to see so many Trimble pics! I have 4-1 same as yours I think with the drilled drop outs. It started off life Black with the coloured decals (belomged to a mate then).

It then got stolen and was missing for a year or so. Then another mate spotted an ad in MBUK for a Trimble with (believe it or not) the exact same component spec!! We called up on the pretense that we wanted to buy it and sure enough it was his bike! Frame number (222) still intact. Called the old bill and the rest is history. The muppet that nicked it sprayed the entire bike (wheels / frame / components - everything!) PINK!!

At this point I bought the bike (for £200 IIRC) and set about restoring it. It now has an amazing stars and stripes paint job (front end stars / rear end stripes) and is built up with bullseye / revolver cranks / 7 speed XT etc. I'll try and get some pics sorted. Will have to dust it down, it's been stuck up in the loft for quite a while!

Really must get it fixed up and ride it!
