Old School Hero
Hi all,while searching in Elmos loft (for my Camelback) I came across my old Axo Pony Boots.Now if you know about these then your`e older than you say but if you don`t then i`ll explain.
Way back when,before SPD`s,most bikes used toe clips & straps and we wore any shoes-boots-trainers that we had.In about 1990 the good folk at Axo bought out a boot aimed at trekkers & walkers and called it the Pony.The Pony had a stiff midsole,grippy "Skywalk Scout" sole,a cut away at the rear to avoid ankle rub,it came in leary colours (lime gree & purple),had a velcro flap to cover the laces and best of all they were INDESTRUCTABLE.
Without planning it Axo had produced the ideal MTB footware and word soon caught on.
In 1992/3 we had the SPD revolution and Axo produced a SPD version.
Anyway thats the history.
As I now ride SPD I have decided to sell these boots.Please bear in mind that the are 15 years old and have been used as they were designed for.They have been machine washed loads of times and faded.The original laces are long gone and the soles are worn.
They would complete the retro look of any project.
I have no idea what they are worth but will be open to serious offers.
