Not a fan of the Smoke either. Had a set of original smoke Lites on one of my bikes and only needed a few hundred feet to decide that it was rubbish. In the end I went with Mombat's Duro Comp III amberwalls. £140-ish after shipping and taxes, but they are great. Noisy as hell on the road though.
Considering getting the Ritchey Z-max amberwalls for the modern though.

I loved the smoke lite as a rear tire, but always preferred the original Specialized hard pack 2.1 up front.
