I built up some bombproof touring wheels for the tandem with the DS Swiss Alpine triple and they are impressively solid looking. I know in the past that people had trouble with Mavics cracking round the eyelets with heavy touring loads. It's nothing of great concern if touring with Europe, but I'd do a bit more digging if riding expeditions in say Africa.
