Dawes racer identification

Retro Newbie
I've recently acquired an old Dawes racer which I've resurrected and am thoroughly enjoying, but I've no idea what model or how old it is. If there is a frame number I can't find it (the bottom of the bottom bracket is too rusty, if it's there)

Any help would be appreciated.

Did a 30 mile road ride Saturday and she kept up with all the carbon fibre lycra clad dudes no probs!

Quite possibly a 70s Galaxy, it looks like its had half chrome forks, can't see to clearly on the photo, centre pull brakes, 531 frame, Weinmann dimple rims, mudguard points, Suntour VX were also fitted to Galaxy's. The frame numbers aren't much use as they all disappeared in a fire years ago.

Who stole the front derailleur?

Slimmer tubes - better aero than carbon ;)

I also say 70's Galaxy. The half-chrome fork says it was a better one out the range, backed up by the centre pull brakes.

Thanks for the replies guys, I think you're right about the age of the bike, there's a code on the suntour rear mech dating it as 1977.

I don't know why but I really love this bike :)
