Dynatech Diablo LX, 1994 (consider to sell)

DT-Diablo-LX

Retro Newbie
Hello Old-school MTB mate's,

As 1st owner of a (Raleigh) Dynatech Diablo LX, I'm now considering to sell it.
I bought it in the Netherlands in 1994, but are now living in Belgium and hardly use it anymore.
In Belgium this bike has less value than the parts separately, so I won't sell it here.

Some retro-MTB lovers in UK, might be interested in my MTB (Size: 20").
I post this message to confirm anyone is interested and would even consider buying it.

I add a page of the original (Dutch) brochure for reference.
My Diablo has Rock-shox suspension, but this elastomer-type is now defect.
Further the Deore LX sprockets have been replaced by an STX-RC type (and now need replacement again).

Let me know your opinions...

Best regards, from Belgium
DT-diablo-LX (Gilbert)

Posting some photos of your bike would probably be useful to see the condition of the bike, and to see which components it has, etc.

Here are some photo's.

The suspension elastomer is dead. The sprockets (STX-RC) and chain need replacement.
Front axle: HB-M563, Rear axle: FH-M563. Original Selle Royal seat and "new" cantilever brake-pads come along.

If you like to get more info, let me know.

Thanks for showing some photos of your Diablo LX. It looks like it's seen plenty of action and has been well loved. My brother used to ride a Diablo STX from the same year, and I know these are really nice bikes to ride, and cool looking also.

It looks like those handlebars and the stem are both titanium :)

It's not so easy to judge the condition of the bike from the photos, mostly because there is a lot of dirt :) How is the condition of the paintwork on the frame? Is there any rust? And the transparent coating on the titanium tubes, is that in good condition? You mentioned the cogs are worn out - is this the front (chainset) or the rear (cassette), or both? How are all the other parts, particularly the gear shifters and the wheels?

Just to give you an idea of how much these can sell for, here is a 1994 Diablo LX with all its original parts and titanium forks, which sold for 150 pounds:

I might be wrong, but I'd expect yours to sell for less, because of the forks (SR instead of UGLI) and the worn out parts.

We have a page on the forum here for asking advice about how much retro bikes and components are worth:
viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29681

It could be worthwhile for you to post your photos in that page and ask for advice about how much to sell for.
