So, DA-EVO very kindly twisted my arm 2.43mm into buying this lovely machine from him.

Frame fork and wheels passed into my grubby mitts and I've been gradually collecting bits to get it finished.

As it currently stands I'm missing cables, bar tape and a chain. The chain is soaking in Degreaser and the cables & tape are on order. The saddle is being replaced with a Selle Italia Bobcat ;)

8.5kgs in her rubber feet, I'm hoping she'll stay under 9...

Some niggles to iron out, but v v happy with what I've got so far

Re: Donnay Carbon Pro 8000 (it's an Alan, honest!)

Looking good mate , not sure about those wheels though !
I find a Park chain bath and white spirit/turps works really well on chains mate ;)

Happy holidays :xmas-wink:
See you on the 29th weather permitting
Mike

Re: Donnay Carbon Pro 8000 (it's an Alan, honest!)

Kerosene = best chain cleaner :)

Re: Donnay Carbon Pro 8000 (it's an Alan, honest!)

thanks Mike. I'm in the process of rebuilding a front spinergy spox to match the rear one, might even shave a few grams off :p

My degreasing weapon of choice is cillit bang. Its evil.

Re: Donnay Carbon Pro 8000 (it's an Alan, honest!)

chain is on, but still missing the cables etc. I think the stem might be a little long for my short arms, and I'm going to have to shave a little more off the seat post as my legs are stretched out just a little too far, will get some nicer pics in the sun

Re: Donnay Carbon Pro 8000 (it's an Alan, honest!)

I've never tried cilit bang or kerosene . How long a stem do you need ?
BTW you may shave a few grams of by getting rid of that goatie mate :xmas-big-grin:
Mike

Re: Donnay Carbon Pro 8000 (it's an Alan, honest!)

stem is currently 120, i suspect i may need to go back to a 100/90. will see how it rides first i think, but i am rather stretched out..

some better shots from this afternoon

almost solely Athena groupset with the exception of Xenon crankarms.

My first niggle. The bolt seems too long for the hole? Spacer? shorter bolt?

Spacer best , can still use the brake for any future road bikes then . Don't have a suitable stem I'm afraid mate . It's a nice looking bike though .
Debating whether I'll need to take lights on the 29th ? Whaddya reckon ?
Mike

Re: Donnay Carbon Pro 8000 (it's an Alan, honest!)

Yep, that's what I thought, thank you Mike. No worries on the stem, I'll see how I get on

Re: Donnay Carbon Pro 8000 (it's an Alan, honest!)

Glad to see it with Campag stuff on it, looking really good, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did :)
