well, i sold my ultra reliable, all mod cons focus for something a little more er old and shit lol

90 spec xr3i with a twist, the engine was replaced with an escort tdi engine, alot less poke than the original cvh but more easy to find parts for and a tad more economical. the previous owner used it as a track car, so the chassis is very very sorted, with a few trick bespoke bits, its fun on smooth roads but a tad too harsh on some buggered roads lol

came with 90 spec recaros, 4 spoke rs steering wheel, rs turbo bonnet and boot but copy rs arches. its not in bad nic, some paint correction and bleb issues to sort over winter and a handfull if small electrical "botches" to sort and the drivers support strap is buggered, or im too heavy lol

anyways, you like??

with my xr2

plans so far are to tidy the paint, service the engine and correct wiring gremlins and sort the drivers seat/bum support, fit a roof rack for the bikes and a mp3 stereo....then drive it everyday lol eventually fit a newer tdci engine or retrun it to 1.6....zetec or ecoboost ;)

Cool - 'my mate Jay' (didnt everyone have a mate called 'Jay' in the 90's?) had a 1.6 with all the RS turbo kit on it - except the suspension... It drove like a space hopper. One half of the car was factory Diamond White with the left side some sort of mysterious Halfords finish. Further investigation found it was two cars.

Those diesels are about 75 bhp? Would a later Focus 1.6 TDCI fit in nicely or is it too much faff? Are CVH parts really that bad to find these days? I've often thought about an XR3i. Some were specced with ABS and heated screens making them useful daily drivers.

My 1600i cost peanuts to fuel compared to some cars I've owned.

can be troublesome to find parts, differences between n/a, turbo and normally aspirated can be a pain!!! pumps etc are easy but bottom ends etc are hard.

powers around 90 iirc in the escort.............feels more like 50 though lol

Looks good that, used to love all the Ford xrs n turbos when I was a younger, my mate had a Orion 1600e with a escort turbo engine in it sort of rapid stealth car in its day.

well, after two weeks of awesome fun and reliability........ the bloody timing belt has snapped. so, what do i do? big engine swap for power, reliable engine transplant or rebuild the derve? absolutely gutted but just bought my old escort estate back for £100 to tied me over for a while, its a bit cool and full of good bits, except the last owner never kept topside of paint.

the other idea is to break the xr, shells absolutely solid, chassis is there etc paint needs looking at but engines fucked......dont want another "project" car, the track car is enough

i hate cars lol, gonna ride to work all week and settle my differences on the singletrack

lol, its done 166k now so it be rite

when i sold it to my mate, it was full of ballast, builders ramal tyres were fucked, rusty and was boring and shit lol, nows it lowered 50mm, big brake conversion on front, 16" mondeo wheels with toyos, recaro interior, rs skirts, top end rebuild and tested till june ;)

well worth £100 lol

buy my xr3i, still a dirty great v8 under the bonnet, prop through centre consol lol
