xtr m951 bb problem

i bought a nos m952 cranckset in dh (single ring) version
i also bought (here) a m 951 bb to go with it

problem is that these 2 doesn't seem to fit. the "tooth" on the bb seem to big for the crancks.

did i buy the wrong bb, or do i need to use some amount of force to pull them on using the cranck bolts?

I had a similar issue using m950 arms and an m952 bb. An m950 bb worked fine though.I was a bit timid when applying force, and learned later that if you remove the self extracting collars from the arms, it makes fitting easier, though in the case above it still didn't fit.

There has never been a XTR M951 bb, they were either M950 or M952, the only octalink bb numbered 51 was the XT ES51, this a V2 octalink & it won't fit the XTR cranks.

The above is so true. Modern BB option are the 7700 and 5500 109mm BB's.

I assumed it was a error and a M951 crank onto an M952 BB.
Just tighten it up carefully.
