Carradice Nelson Longflap Saddle Bag.

The best I can do is suggest streetview of the shop I bought in 1960, for £1300.
If you have google earth, enter BS6 5RB in the search. Open streetview, move a little towards the railway bridge, and the turquoise shop labelled portadella is on the right. I paid for it in the first year.
The road is the main A38, this is where Dave Duffield gave me a huge wave as he was heading for John a Groats and the end to end trike record.
If you move towards the bridge there is a shop called Allsorts, which I bought in 1977, I was the commercial video specialist for the SW area.

Why did you sell the straight stayed Hetchins and not the curly stayed Hetchins from stock ?

The curly ones do seem to command a premium over the straight stayed, I assume the build quality is the same, but how about the ride?

When I was a kid I used to see a bunch ride regularly through Upminster in Essex, I assume they were on their way to Southend or somewhere like that.

The curly hetchins had 3/4 inch round chainstays and tended to be longer, or had very little wheel clearance between the chainstays. The straight stays should be stronger and round/oval/round, but this is all typical where collectable does not mean quality.
I have a pic somewhere of myself on a 21" curly hetchins in 1958 in the Bath Victoria Park road race.

I was sent to deliver and pick up frames from our local refinishers ( wenlock platers) and I had to sling them over the shoulder and carry them on my Falcon San Remo :)

Happy days

Shaun
