Does anyone know of commercially available shims to fit a 26.6mm seatpost in a 27.0mm seat tube? I'd rather avoid The Drinks Can Of Desperation, but, if this is the only rout, does anyone who's done it have any tips?

Ta muchly.

There is a 0.4 mm difference so thats a shim thickness of 0.2mm. Find a shim that does 25.4 -25.8mm, that will give you your 0.2mm wall thickness. At that thinness of shim wall there will be enough flex in the split shim tube to wrap around the post just leaving a wider slit in the shim. Easy Peasy :D

is it some fancy dan seat post you are trying to shim? if not buy a 27mm one, very easy size to find, and not expensive

get a wanted add on here and you will get all sorts incoming!

That will need at least a couple of Coke can shims, not impossible, but tricky, and with a high probability of sliced flesh and a new red paint-job for your seat-tube...

Better to find a "proper" shim for the job, or better yet a 27.0mm seatpost.

Spotted a couple of 27's on ebay last light and not bad ones either.
Ill take a look for you

Heh heh heh! Thanks for the legwork, but I decided to stump up the princely sum of a tenner for a black Lite Stik and be done with it.
