Took all the brakes apart, I was going to go for black Paul cantilevers, but i'm now thinking of keeping the original Deore and polishing them up.
Thought I'd better bag them up individually otherwise I'm bound to lose something ! :roll:

Started cleaning the rear mech up as well, took it apart and gave it a bath of degreaser, I've managed to get a M735 in pretty good condition will decide when it arrives whether to use the original or that one, if I go for the M735 I'll change the front mech and shifter to match.

Frame is at the local frame builder and I've cleaned two rear mechs, in two minds which build to go for, the original Deore or XT II, the Deore is in really good condition and I've managed to source nearly all an XT groupset some bits NOS and the rest in good condition.
Started on the chainset, the Biopace rings are in really good condition, gave them a good clean and a scrub, still loads of life in them, started on the crank arms, started polishing them by hand as I didn't want the logo damaged, I've got an XT crank coming so I've decided to hold on finishing it off until I've decided which way i'm going on the build .
Got a NOS XT II seat post QR and two NOS rear skewers, I was planning on cutting one down and re threading it to make a front but now need to check the diameter as I've been told the threads were rolled not cut.
I'm quite enjoying this so far ....

Nice workshop you have - perfect for a lot more builds

No mucking about with donor bikes here, just gratuitous use of NOS, nice work!!

I don't think it matters which groupset you use, with that level of workmanship it will be superb.

My workshop once looked something like that.... then I cluttered it up with a load of old bikes. :mrgreen:
