Gavr goes Italian - Tommasini Super Prestige 1990 - complete

Re: Gavr goes Italian - Tommasini Super Prestige 1990

This really is lovely, very much worth the high end finish of your components.

And yes, post is slow, particularly 2nd class - 5 days seems to be norm in the last few weeks.

Are you going to use down tube shifters on it ?

Matching tyres and brake tabby things

(what are they called , those tabby things under the blocks?)

I don't know for sure, I've seen them called 'wheel guides'.

Definitely down tube shifters and aero brake levers for this one :D

Fantastic Gav. A dream bike from bitd.

Nice to see CDA rather than the more common choice of C-Record.

My hat of to you for another stunning build!

Re: Gavr goes Italian - Tommasini Super Prestige 1990 - comp

Very nice indeed Gav, great looking ride. Liking the component choice on this frame - a quality build all round. How many speeds you running?

cheers FINNEY1973. 7 speed this one, find I need some reasonable tension on the rear cable when in the small sprocket so that half the lever pull is not for the first shift. Then it just about pulls up into the 28 sprocket

Yep, am in the same boat - got the same mech & 8-speed shifters (supposedly) but not having a bit of of it - jumps, won't index, too many noises for it to be right. Have put that build to one side as it's doing my head in!

Anyway, lovely build indeed and just how did you get that camera effect?

sorry can't help with 8 speed syncro - a reputation for being a real pita. You could check the alignment of the mech hanger with one of these if you've not already had a go

Large aperture camera lens, Sigma f1.4 pretty much wide open

Re: Gavr goes Italian - Tommasini Super Prestige 1990 - comp

reputation quite rightly earned.

Nice - brings the bike to life in the pictures - I trust your submitting this into RBOTM.

Re: Gavr goes Italian - Tommasini Super Prestige 1990 - comp

I haven't been able to find any good C Record leather toe straps so some blue Binda's will do the job just fine. Just some bidons to find now but I think that will probably have to be in the spring now. A few more pics to finish this off...
