Show us (your) 80's mountain bikes !

Never seen this thread before. Some lovely bikes.

And somewhere to put all these together!

87 Raleigh Avanti. Cheating a bit with this photo (cheers Adrian! I feel terrible that this is still sitting in my loft but it will get built and used from time to time for many years if all goes to plan). The frame is now mine, together with all the bits (taken from my smaller Avanti frame) to make it complete - now to find the time!

Wish I had something to offer , but definately gotta build an '80s bike next . These bikes are so cool . Especially like the Bridgestone and Giant Super Sierras , but all are great bikes .

1989 Marin Palisades. Kitted out with Shimano XT M730/DX groupset.
M730 hubs with UG cassette 13-32t, now a M735 rear mech (as the M730 mech I had failed) Shaimno DX front mech (still looking for a M730 botttom pull mech in 28.6mm clamp, M730 crankset, M730 BBM730 thumb shifters, M732 levers and M651 canti's. It is my mud bike and performs well.

It's great that this thread has been resurrected, really love 80's bikes.

This is my 1989 Swallow Merlin.

Loving the Swallow.

Heres a 1987 Dawes Cougar. Full 531, rides like a shopping trolly but very well built despite that minor issue...
