Apparently I am 1 of the "lucky 500" who get a discounted entry. I am still unsure whether I will pay the money as we will be doing Paris Roubaix two weeks before and if there is room for a second trip in June, the Retroronde seems better value (even assuming they deliver on their promise), as you get two bicycle events (the criterium the night before and the actual ride).
So we'll see... I might well tag along without paying on the day and get on board the abuse of those who paid... although I think the best would be to see what they manage to put in place and maybe get onto it year 2
