What is it...?

Ok, the missus bought this little brass curio today, and we're intrigued to know exactly what it is??

It's about 3" tall and the same length, with a hole at the bottom with threaded holes to screw grub screws into, to possibly hold a rod/stick/something else.,,?

We're thinking a walking stick handle, or similar, but it's actually a bit small and uncomfortable for that. The way the brass has worn suggests a left handet has used it... We're also thinking it could be a handle for a fire stoker or similar..,

Anyone got any other views, or concrete proof of what it might be??

We already thought that, hence the above...

Holding it as if a cane was attached would be very uncomfortable.. Plus, I don't have particularly big hands and it just feels too small to hold...???

Perhaps for a child or something? But again, the angle would make it uncomfortable on the wrists..

It definitely isn't a walking stick handle; it's too robust and clunky.
It's probably a door handle. The thread will probably fit an old threaded shaft if you have any old fashioned knobs around. The grub screw hole below the throat (which would be hidden when fitted) may well be stripped of thread, hence the second hole in the side of the neck.

The main shaft hole isn't threaded, and probably only about 15mm diameter.

The missus now thinks it might be an umbrella handle but I'll run suburbanreub's ideas past her..
