Hi all '
Was wondering if anyone out there has tried to lacquer over a powder coated finish frame in order to seal in transfers . Does it work , or would there be a chemical reaction ? Thinking of maybe getting a re-finish done on a new project :roll: .Thanks ,Mike
 
Yep, fine, done it, just treat it like any normal paint.

Make sure it is well wiped down with panel wipe first, as some gloss powdercoat has a waxy residue that the clear won't stick to very well.
Give it a key first before you apply the lacquer, but mind the decals
 
I just done exactly that, got my Cannondale powder coated, aplied the new decals, keyed the surrounding frame with a scotchbrite pad & then gave it to a bodyshop to Laquer over. Lovely!

I'll see if I can find the pics of the frame resto.
