Yep - when I did it before I thought this is a course where a short travel XC is the weapon of choice without doubt.
 
Must admit i started running 105mm at the front and 3.5" travel at the rear and increased to max travel (130mm & 4.5") by the end and i can still feel the effects of the course today - must learn to drop my suspension pressures before next year.

When i got back to transition after lap 1 and saw Heathy on his hardtail i did wonder just how many laps he would endure before bringing the Epic out to play!

One guy Heathy and myself know did the 12 hr solo, the first four hours he did on a cyclocross bike :shock: , only changing to a hardtail when the blisters on his hands got too large. Yes he is bonkers and fast to boot - he finished 7th in his class!
