First resto for someone else

Devout Dirtbag
Thought i'd share with you my latest build.Since getting back into cycling and returning to my passion for 70's and 80's steel I seemed to infect other people and when my colleague and good friend Graham talked about his beloved Holdsworth and rides both solo and with the old Sheppy Eagles a distant plan was hatched. Cue a boring business meeting with a shared desk a decent wi fi connection a rather scruffy E Bay ending soon Holdsworth Equipe and a download of the original spec ad and hey presto how to explain to Mrs Graham that the account is £150 lighter than she thought! A shrewd investment or rather the start of an investment programme throwing in pictures of the vaguely similar £2k replica seemed to do the trick. Finally 6 months later although original forks are still in the paint shop, the replica is complete apart from the always wanted but unaffordable upgrade to 10 speed and Campag brake hoods as I couldn't find white weinman hoods. Graham I hope you enjoy your time machine!

Top job, and 10 out of 10 for measuring off the decal positions. There's nothing worse than a rebuild where the decals are not aligned right.

So whats next? :)

The one possible thing I would do is shorten off the brake covers by a couple of inches, and an inch off the rear. :)

Thank your for your kind comments. Spot on about the rear cover looked ok on build but photo shows it up?however fronts work when bar mount bottle cages fitted just need to source some period ones.
Next job is early 80's Bianchi 28 lusso full Campag 980 kit with braze ons plus specialissimo top tube guides and some gorgeous Wolber profil18 titanium wheels. Dry build is complete, just having a mental battle as to wether to chrome rear stays and front forks or whole thing and have exposed chrome lugs! Oh and an Andy Ruffell Team Burner for one of my boys.

Bravo

Just being nosy, where did you get the mudguards from, I have tried a couple of chrome sets but they did not seem to fit well under the brakes.

Have tried many in the past but the only ones that ever looked right have always been Weinmann aluminium they have a very flat top profile they often come up on E-bay as NOS these came for Just under £20.
I think I might have a spare old one pm me an address and I'll chuck it in the post at least then you can see if it looks right on your machine before buying some.
