Yeti A.R.C. as

Hey all,

Bought this a few days ago but haven't had the time to put it on the forum.

I’m still wondering what year it is, maybe somebody could help me with this? Couldn’t really find a similar frame in this color scheme online and actually also with the seatpost screw in front. I bought it as in the picture. Incomplete but with a lot of nice parts. 3DV Grafton cranks; 3DV Chris King headset; 3DV ringle zooka stem, bottle cage and moby seatpost; M910 rear mech, m900 front and set of shifter brake levers and a rear brake; Answer hyperlite bars and a Manitou 4.

Oh and the yeti bottle is branded on bottle and cap with specialized, Is there a reason for this? Is it just a sticker which was placed on a white bottle. It still has a store tag with yeti bottle on it so I believe that it’s meant to be like this.

But enough talking here are some pictures. Frame is in very good condition some small marks no dents or cracks, haven’t really tested suspension on frame but it looks and feels fine but a testride will probably give a better conclusion.

Very nice! Earlier ARC AS. 1993 would likely have the pinch clamps around the shock body and you could change it out for an air/ oil or an elastomer unit. I'd hazard a guess at 1994 or 1995, with the Risse shock. There seems to be no inconsistency in the seatpost clamps from this era, It seems some of the smaller frames had a clamp around the front like yours, but I even have one with a separate collar from this era, even though the separate collar was a much later feature.
I love this colour scheme though, one of my favourites.
Bottles simply went to a "local" bottle supplier for printing. Just so happens that they happen to use bottles manufactured by specialised. There is no direct branding tie in there. Bottle is much later than the frame, kinda new millennium era.
Mk 1 or 2 Grafton cranks you have look nice, but this generation are too fragile to ride in anger 20 years on...
This should make for a lovely build. Look forward to it!

I'll send you the 94' and 95' catalogues to the same address Stef. After reading Elite504's post and going back to the brochures, I agree. The Manitou 4 is circa 95' I believe as well.

I measured the toptube and the seattube. Toptube length suggests a 17,5inch frame but seattube measured from middle BB to end seattube 47cm, or 18,5inch. Which is an 1 inch more than a 17,5 would be I think..

Indeed no wheels yet and definitely no 3dv ringle hubs on them. I was actually just clearing out my small bike-collection (mainly the roadbikes and parts) to get some funds for a calibrated screen and new computer as I just graduated as an art student. And because I still live at home 5 old roadbikes was a bit too much for my mom..

When this popped up locally I couldn’t let it pas so I had to buy it but I’m afraid I will not be able to build it to the high standard it deserves in the next months. Unless I strike some great deals ofcourse.. Will be using my 94ish gt avalanche build with a mix of modernish and retroparts to abuse in the winter so maybe not finishing it now is also a good thing.

Selling dawned in my head honestly (still is when I think purely financially) but then I may regret it for the rest of my live.. These Yeti’s are really my favorite! But as elite504 mentioned I’m also quite scared to damage it as the frame and it’s parts are relatively fragile. I’m used to riding my Gt which is a real beater and a mix match of part that I got cheap or were available. So I would find it a shame if I couldn’t get myself to really use this beauty.

But future will tell, for the moment I’m planning on building it for after the winter and when financially I don’t have to invest the money in more important things.
