Stunning bike buddy. I had the very same BITD. Bought it brand new around 1987/88 from MK Cycles in Bolton, and IIRC it was £300!

Sadly I pretty much rode mine into the ground, (as you do in your teens), but every now and then I still have a mooch to try and find one, but I doubt anyone will ever find one as original and clean as yours was, you're a lucky guy.

I doubt I'd find one big enough TBH, (I'm 6' 5"), but even if it I found one that was close I'd make it do as I'd love one again that much.

Enjoy yours and if I ever find one to restore myself I'll post it up.

Smokey

Nice to hear your back story - most here a fond memories of them - mine original did similar service to yours and saved me three times the cost in bus fares alone!

You did well to get yours for £300 - I'm pretty sure list was £323 and the shops could sell every one they got in.

Keep an eye on ebay as the larger frame sizes do come up and usually go for a song. I've been tempted to buy several for the spares alone.

Cheers Archemist. I check ebay from time to time, but if you ever spot a big 'un at all' would you mind giving me a nudge. I've not been on this site much TBH but I'll be sure to check back more often now as I step up my search.

Price wise I'm sure you're right, I know it was around the £300 mark, but my parents had always bought my bikes from the same shop, and knowing how my old fella haggle it wouldn't surprise me if he got a discount. All I know for sure is I had to pay half as it was sooooooooooooo expensive, and my contribution was £150.

@gregor, that would be perfect. Mine had the paw prints at the top of the seat stays as well. I could make that size work for me. PM if you decide to move on won't you ;)

PS: I do have an old steel Claude Butler oracle if you fancy a trade :D Linky; http://imageshack.us/g/1/10326394/

Here's the pics as promised of my Courier, hoping to get it back to at least roadworthy if possible and then take it from there.

Re: OMFG another UPDATE (3) Muddy Fox Courier 1988 in da Pur

I had an earlier one, when they were all pearl white. Mine had Dia Compe brakes and gears, and was a great bike at the time (1986). Wore mine out and traded it for a Saracen TuffTrax at the time too.

The early days of MTB'ing eh????

At one time those pearl white Couriers were everywhere.

Where are they all now????

My Dad has a mint condition Muddy Fox Courier that he is looking to sell. No idea the value or if where best to sell it. Would appreciate some wisdom.
