Trying to fit what I thought was a standard SFN to an alloy Indy S steerer - is internal diameter different or sumat, it won't go in...

(I have had 2 pints of Stella though...)

I also had the same problem with a thickwall ally steerer,In the end I carefully ground some metal off the spring steel tangs,,worked a treat,,just don't take too much off at first, keep checking as you grind the metal away.

Try a hed (think that's how they spell it) doctor instead?

You mean, like the one I sold a few weeks ago....

Think grinding is best bet, never a straight forward quick little job, is it??

Buy a SFN for the next size headset down (probably 1")

Or... I managed to get a SFN into an alloy steerer... you just need to be persistent, and use some kind of guide to get it in straight. I used a pin punch with the thin section through the centre of the nut, and it went in perfectly

...you've just given me an idea...have old set of 1" ahead forks here, perhaps I could knock the SFN out of them and try it before going the 'back to LBS' route...
