Inherited Raleigh Offroad Peak - Winter Commuter

Not used it much yet, still waiting for the rain :D

The bike heft (+ lights, guards, wheel, tires) means it doesn't get used much.

Still its nice to have my dads old bike, and one day I may have a go at restoring the paint work, oddly the stickers are pretty much in great condition.

Well mine says "Designed and Hand Built in Nottingham" (see above photo) - not entirely sure if its true on not. It certainly feel like is British made from the finest pig iron.

These older lugged frames were to my knowledge handbuilt in Nottingham.
Not really pig iron either hardly 853 or Max-OR but not gaspipe either, equivalent to Reynolds 501 I think.
These old Raleighs do ride nicely though just be careful of the rear stays where they join the seat tube as many were replaced under warranty for failure here, later years the stays changed to a shot it design.

Carl.

I weighed a peak frame when I was respraying it, and it tipped the scales at five and a quarter pounds, pretty comparable to mid range steel from other manufacturers, not really heavy at all. They ride well too. A bit under appreciated I reckon.
