Evening all...

Long term project & some contemplation time to work out how I want to build this but I'd like to start with some knowledge or opinions on the following that will help me form a base to work from.

Lo-pro / funny bike of "unknown" origins (I am aware that a particular maker was attached to the sale but when there's no proof it could be any maker). No maker or tubing decals (a good start isn't it) and the following information...

1] Italian threads / 70mm BB shell width with under BB cable braze-ons, not plastic.
2] 130mm rear end.
3] Double DT bosses.
4] Internal Top-tube cable routing.
5] Campag Brev rear dropouts that take rear dropout adjusters.
6] 27.0 seat-tube diameter.
7] Capital "E" stamped into the BB shell between the chainstays.
8] "57" stamped on the underneath of the NDS of the BB shell.
9] Cable route braze-on between BB shell and front mech braze-on.
10] Lugless construction.
11] Downtube bottle bosses.
12] Distinctive fork crown with "7" stamped into the steerer tube.
13] 700C rear / 650C front.

From the list and the photos does anyone have any knowledge / thoughts of who the maker could be?

Many thanks...

Can you post a photo of the whole frame? The Italian thread BB is throwing me as I remember a few TT'ers in the 80's with curved tube frames that were definitely UK built.

That's a good starter for 10 Shaun, fork crown from the link is identical. The top-tube cable guide braze-on's are identical to those on my Concorde Prelude if that adds anything to your thoughts?

Once upon a time the frame was 24K gold plated  - what you see now is merely the remnants - in most places it's worn off and agreed, it appears to chrome underneath?

Photo of the whole frame attached, it may jog a few memories...

Attached is a link of the previous owner with the bike...it tells you the maker but I refer to my opening post - zero positive identifiers on this frame to link it to that maker...oh and I didn't buy this to be a stylish cyclist, I just love this type of lo-pro and fancied owning one - my idea is to build it nothing like that in the link, a more traditional & period style is required but I need a starting point i.e. a maker! http://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/lon ... lery&ino=6

Cheers chaps...

Not a bad shout that Stephen - I guess what I should be perhaps asking is what are the definite markings (stamps etc) to identify makers such as Moser, Dancelli, , Tommasini, Rossin etc etc...maybe that would help me eliminate certain makers.

For example, I had rightly or wrongly always thought that Rossin had a distinctive cut-out in the BB shell or the rear brake bridge was made from an R - would they have made a frame with no specific signature piece.

All in all for a specialist frame, this has no special signature lines which I find a little odd - extravagant frame but almost as though no-one wanted to put their name to it!

The reason I though Moser is that the fork crown is identical to my Leader AX and the frame is filet brazed...

I've got a Moser in Oria tubing and is also silver fillet brazed........mine has a smattering of Panto work that makes it a moser and also the bottom bracket is cast / lugged.

The clue might be in the Gold Plating. Aside from Raleigh if a frame was Gold Plated then it was destined for show and not go.....I came across a few in the 70's and that's what they were, bike show queens or for riding around the six day circuit for glamour.

If it was a built by a firm for show then it would have been very firmly stamped with their name all over it, panto'd and with the name on the dropouts and not just Campagnolo......
