Starter tool kit?

That IceToolz kit looks pretty good, certainly looks to be one of the better of those kits I've seen.

Other stuff you might need.

Greese - you can use standard lithium grease for cars, a 500ml tub will last a lifetime and cost about a fiver, or you can get something like this with a grease gun: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/weld ... p-prod5958

Copaslip, or similar. You can use grease as anti-seize, but this works better. I put in on bolt threads with an old paint brush and use it on seat posts, crank tapers etc., basically anything I want to come apart again at some point in the future.

Chain lube: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/15096714 ... mp;ff14=92

Engine degreaser, something like Gunk, but they're all pretty much the same. You can buy it in an aerosol, or it's often cheaper to buy it in a can to brush on, which I then put it in a garden sprayer. Work it in with an old paint brush or toothbrush then rinse off with water. Works well at getting rid of all that oily gunk from chains, sprockets, jockey wheels etc.

Decent cable cutters. I have a pair like this and they work really well on cable inners and outers, although you sometimes have to tidy up the ends of the outers a bit: http://www.driftcycles.co.uk/id-cable-c ... tAodFysAtQ

Forth hand/cable puller: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ETC-Inner-Wir ... 485918e179. Not essential, but takes a lot of faff out of setting up cable brakes and gears.

What tool do I need for crimping those metal caps on the end of brake and gear cables? Oh and where do I get the metal caps?

I use a pair of long-nose pliers - nothing special. CRC / Ebay for cable end caps.

Thanks for all the advice. I've ordered that Icetoolz kit and a track pump. I'll pick up other odds and sods as I need em.
