A nice little 16" Rocky frame we procured on here

Adam is my 14 year old son. He's graduated from Kona via Muddy Fox to Spesh  ness.

Build was going to be like this...

But up "spec" to black m560 LX as we've a full set

Then a chance meeting with an Austrian Spesh lover (Cheers Christoph) meant we went up the food chain to a lovely assortment of this:

And Ad's Groupset looks almost as good as the picture...

more to follow....

Re: Ad's "Olde Skool Cool" Its older than me build RockHoppe

After a 3 or 4 goes with DeOx Gel we've got just about all the rust back to bare metal without damaging the surrounding paint.

Not sure whether to leave the scars and lacquer the raw steel or try and colour match...

:D

Roughed out in the bike workshop...

after some nice purple grips but i think that'll be it for the bling

As there's already some Easton EC70 Carbon ( ) Bars fitted and awaiting delivery of a matching seatpost - it'll weigh less above the waterline than any Rockie before it :D

Stem is temporary (SpeshMeister Bart has one "in hand" for us  ) and a set of DX Canti's too.

Ride's lovely and surprisingly light and nimble.

Nice project!
One question may I ask - when you used Deox C Gel, did you apply it only on the rusty part or it didn't matter even it touched on the painted surface at all?
I used Deox C Gel on non painted parts before and it is amazing, but I never tried on painted steel.
Now I am thinking about using it on my rusty frame for touch up hence the question.
Thanks

Yep thanks it's nearly a rider - just brakes to source.

I've done numerous car parts and several bikes now with Deox gel and none have had the paint affected by the gel. On some thinly painted suspension parts the surrounding paint flaked off but I'm not sure it was the Deox (as it didn't melt as such merely flaked off in strips as if it was not bonded).

Specialized appear to have the thinnest paint known to mankind (compared to MF and even Kona's) and the one above was completely unaffected by the Deox.

GLWTR
And

And,

if you are still interested in the stem, I might also have some DX brakes for you....

Cheers,
Bart

Pleasure - your courier resto is wonderful - and any friend of The Fantastic Mr Fox (should that be Ms?) is a friend of ours

Here's a nearly finished shapshot taken during our ride out on the forest trails today (please excuse terrible shaky iphone pic we'll get some proper ones up soon as)

It's got full aMt61/2 groupset, a matching ec70 handlebar and seatpost for added bling and some NOS purple Oury grips on a NOS Specialised stem from the Stumpmeister as above

Thanks one and all who've helped out when I've pleaded pocket money poverty :D
