old raleigh slow slow project/daily rider

some changes to the bike tonight after a few cans, bike is no longer in daily use as got free bus travel until end of this month so felt that it needed some changes doing.
handlebars have now been changed.
crankset is now off and im hunting for a crappy single ring crankset.
the front shifter and mech are now gone completely.
will probably regret this at some point but oh well.
pics in a bit

sorry about the pic quality !

bike was stripped down today, currently sanding it and going to paint it tommorrow. will post pics when the frame and forks are done.

Good read - glad you got it back. Like people have said, even the low-end Raleighs weren't bad bikes; I bought and restored a Raleigh Caprice for my girlfriend six years ago (now my fiancée  it really was a long time ago) and it's been abused daily, throughout the winters too, with nary a creak from it. You don't need a Chris King headset and Nukeproof hubs to make a reliable commuter.
