Mixing wheel sizes

Only ever seen it on old TT bikes but now we seem to have 3 accepted wheel sizes for MTBs I wondered if anyone had tried it (eg 26" rear with a 29er up front)?
 
Where have you been for the last five years? Trek, Carver and Singular have all designed and manufactured bikes around this concept.
Loads of people have played around with the idea and I for one am a big fan of 69ers.

Embarrassing to admit but my cycling has been somewhat insulated from the world of new developments for a while. The last new bike I bought was in about 2003!

Glad to see my mental wanderings aren't entirely crazy.

Every day's a school day...
