How much travel can my '98 GT Backwoods take safely?

I fitted a 100mm Rockshox Duke to a '99 Karakoram once and it looked pretty stupid. I didn't ride it though because it looked all wrong. I shortened the RS by 20mm and all was right again. The bike came with a 63mm Judy and the A-C on the rigid fork for that frame is 425mm I believe. I'd guess the '98 Backwoods would have the same geometry as my Karakoram.
 
It's here now so tomorrow I'll measure the A2C of the Indy's and go from there I think. I forgot, but I've got some 410mm A2C rigid forks on the way, so I may even try them first...
