I am looking to get one (either silver or black edition) and was wondering what others experiences are?

I will be using on the bike obviously but also holidays and nights out etc.

My main wonders are if the Black edition is worth the extra over the silver? Will I benefit that much with the extra resolution and frames per second??

I've the silver edition, and I'm really pleased with it.
It suffered from an issue with the SD card (search online!) for a while, but I got over this my performing a regular format on it and it's been fine since.
I've not tried the Black, so can't offer a comparison

I will have a look at the issues cheers,

When you record in the highest HD are the images like the slick HD videos on the adverts or is this a best case scenario with the best equipment?

Yeah, it bugs me to :-( Don't even bother if your watching from a mobile app and not connected to wifi

Embedding YouTube footage doesn't seem to work on here ? :-(

It's Roxy my three year old being a hero in a Disney water park "Roxy v Toboggan Racers & Snow Stormers"

It's was my second edit - have a look at my channel if you like (follow the qr code) :D

My best edits are the GF's Bokwa flashmob's (parts 2 & 3 with some slow mo) :D

Thank you  I will subscribe back when on my home pc ;-)

Adobe Premiere Elements 11 (Presi from the GF). I looked at a few of the ‘cheap’ packages and this is the one I kept coming back to – It was a toss up with power director. I haven’t used any of the others to compare (I am new to all this) but it seems very easy to use. I haven’t needed or used any manuals or on line help etc and I haven’t found anything (yet … !) that I wanted to do, but can’t :D

Drag and drop for the GoPro footage, pictures, iTunes music etc :D

Note that there are only a handful of videos on my channel that I used it on though, the others were posted up before I had the software. Check the comments, it will tell you what I used for what including camera settings etc.

Note that it takes a long time to edit something properly though with titles and music etc, especially if you have two camera’s, about 30 mins of footage (to make a 4 min clip) and your GF pecking your head about the correct dance steps and timing etc …

In my experience – Multiple cameras / multiple clips / imported music / titles / fades (film and sound) / a bit of slow mo etc = 1 hour editing per 1 min up finished material … Obviously much easier and quicker with one camera and long continuous clips etc.

I have loads of stuff to edit properly and post, lots of good stuff left over from Florida, snow man building, Lemans etc – I need more time …

The GF wouldn’t be to happy if I posted up everything though, underwater cameras, bikinis & waterparks is a great combination …

From what I've heard, it's very important to make sure that you have computer which can actually upload and run the files properly.

A friend of mine has one and it won't work with any of their laptops, but it'll play fine with a PS3.

It sounds like they did not have the correct codec’s on the pc.

I am not a computer whiz so please don’t question me to much … ! I believe you need the Cineform codec’s for things to run smoothly.

I only have a (very) crap laptop and I can view & edit 1080 30 and 720 60 (the limit of a HD2 / silver) no problem what so ever. The laptop was rebuilt, I only put on what I needed and I don’t fill it with games / internet crap / porn etc.

You need a big disk (unless you won’t save a lot of footage).

Cineform and its codec’s are free.

I suspect I would need a new laptop if I was going to edit 1080 60 footage or greater (i.e. the better resolutions in the black).

Loads of info on the forum linked above ;-) Lots of tips to with regards memory cards / hardware updates for the camera etc i.e. things that can help keep things running smoothly ... Don’t plug the camera into a PC USB / correct use of dedicated memory cards etc

They are a tough mechanical package but seem to be susceptible to some software bugs and issues that can be aggravated by not following simple rules and recommendations (that aren’t put in the manual).

I have followed the rules religiously and touch wood, I have had no problems other than one which GoPro support sorted out very quickly / professionally  I ‘bricked’ one of my cameras rendering it completely unresponsive / useless during a firmware update – they sent me a file that woke it up again – no problems since, including updating it again last weekend to the recent release of the latest firmware :D
