Visitor from baggy land here looking for a bit of advice on rims.

Have managed to obtain a lovely pair of 32h sachs new success hubs - the late 90's model with disc flanges - I'm hoping to build them into a set of general purpose 700c wheels for fast commuting and light cx'ing - may also use them with rim and disc brakes.

I know nothing about what rims would suit - Mavic Open Pro's have been suggested but I don't think they are particularly period - not that I'm massively fussed but if there are some relatively easily available period-ish rims I'd look for them

Any ideas?

The big trend in the late 90s were wheelsets by third part manufactures like the Rolf Vector Pro, Mavic Cosmic and Spinergy Rev-X. Handbuilt wheels were on the decline as well as dark anodized rims like the MA-40. But a set of Open Pros with a silver finish would be correct plus Mavic rims plentiful and, for the most part, durable.
