As you say, I think he's working us against each other.

I've had yet another email from him . . . . . . he'll sell it to me, if the guy from Cambridge doesn't buy it. He also mentioned that the Cambridge fella, 'might have problems arranging transport'.

Funny thing is, he's still not answered some of my queries - such as what is the frame size ? I'm guessing it's 22 1/2 or 23.

Yup, I did say that I wouldn't be able to get over there until next week... :?
He's not come back to me with anything yet by way of a counter offer or confirmation, though.

Given that he was asking £45 for a PG, he probably doesn't know how to measure the frame size... :roll:

I'd just like to know how he comes to own a bike as rare as a PG and not have a clue what it is. Maybe he needs a pair of oven gloves to measure the frame size

Almost wish I hadn't outed this now, just wanted to see someone get a bargain really.

Well, it's kept us entertained . . . I can stand failure , it's the hope that I find so hard to take.

Just had another email, there's now someone else interested and guess what, they're offering even more. No surprise there, then.

I saw a metallic red one of these at a bike show, being exhibited by a collector from Warrington. they are very impressive frames indeed. I'd say if you can get it for £400 (and if its as well finished as the one I saw) you'd be getting an absolute gem. too far out a my way and I haven't got the dabs (thank goodness!)

The 'problem' is this, I've 'agreed' a price with the seller - at three different values . . . . . . . we've even arranged a time when the bike could be collected.

Oh yes, at least three others on this forum 'agreed' to buy the bike; very kindly & honourably, they decided to 'stand aside', so that I could buy the bike - I'd like to thank neuroportal, Robbied196, and danson67 for very decently, leaving the way clear for me to make the purchase . . . . . . . I wish that the seller could show such integrity.

I think that it is more than likely, that there are quite a few others involved in this auction. At least three of us, have received exactly the same emails - how can that be right ?

I don't dispute that the bike was (is ?) 'good value; but it is up to the seller to name a price - and having done so, he should stick to it (IMO). He told me that 'he didn't realise the value' . . . but having made agreements at different prices, he has then gone on to say, that 'someone else is very interested' and they are willing to pay (whatever) - ie, more than what I will pay.

I've recently been informed, that the price is now above £400 - there is now someone who is 'very' interested in the bike and willing to pay 'a lot more' for it. Well, I'm not getting involved in an auction, he has had offers from me, which he has accepted. Obviously, an agreement on the Internet, ain't binding - it's not worth the paper it's written on. This would never have happened with Ebay.

It'll be interesting to see what happens to the bike; I predict, that the frame will end up on Ebay . . . . . . or just as likely, it will end up on a very familiar website - which specialises in frames and bike components.

Perhaps it is an odd concept to some, but I believe in making a straight-forward transaction; I'd have simply purchased the bike with cash and then used it as it is - ie, not stripped it down and sold it on, as is done by so many 'enthusiasts'.

this guy is a regular messer on that site, ive tried buying from him on 5 different ocassions. he never gives a contact number, hell say this persons offering more, sorry mate im out of town until such and such day and time is another one hes used, some of the other blokes i buy off that also uses that site has also had issues but he managed to get as far as seeing the bike, seller didnt know what the hell he was talking about, wanted way too much for the bike he was trying to sell then had a go at him for wasting his time when he said he was walking away because he wouldnt take a lower price than he was asking (£150 when the bike wasnt even worth £50) id just back away now.

Dean the dealer nudge, nudge, wink, wink, wanna buy a bike?

A time wasting seller, now there's a novelty :facepalm:
