It might not be the "frame number" in the traditional sense but it's certainly 555 stamped on it

Luckily not 666!

Looks in it's element. For what it's worth, that shares a lot of features in common with my red 'mtb'/bottom line/Genesis (doesn't appear to have a name!) which is a 1989.

Love your red one, and the red Lynx that was sold recently

This one has top pull/roller for the front mech, so early nineties seems likely

Either way its mega and a very nice foil to the DBish I have as a hardtail

I have a dream to get them refinished in matching colour ways, but both have decent enough paint so no need just yet
