Who in the hell would dare to deface a 1989 Raleigh Lizard....this is the mtb (very loosest sence) that got me into the sport....rat bike....how very very dare you :)

lol ok i wont sand the paint back but im leaving most of the blue on ! (was on when i got it) put it over my shoulder and stopped every mile, im sure it was quite a funny sight ! :) already done a bit to it -
wheels have been changed - bullhorns are on - i have installed some suspension forks that were on my full sus and the brake callipers are on

got some bits done.
also changed the seat to a really comfortable one.
frames a bit small for me but oh well.

A Raleigh Lizard - so bad they're kinda cool. A lot got stolen, dating as they did from the late 80's when mtb s started to become a more common sight over here (my sister's was nicked)'and would explain the blue paint disguise yours wears.

They've heavy old units - you really sure you want to be making it heavier?

i actually know the bloke who i got it from and it was his sons from new, he painted it last year in his enthusiastic "im gonna ride it to work every day but dont like the green" moment and its sat in the shed since. the paint over time has flaked off and ive scraped a fair bit off, this ones only going to be for the commute while my other raleigh is very slowly being done, its nowhere near as heavy as my full sus so overall not too bothered. got it for free. spent a hour on it so far. its being built out of old parts ive got lying around or that are on other bikes im never going to use again. the only new parts are the cable set £4 and the grips ive got for it £2. im not going to complain about that.

haha I had one of these in for breaking a while ago. the frame was more rust than paint. shame as I quite liked the paintjob but my god was it heavy. think Ive still got the old shifters and the bottlecage but thats pretty much all I could salvage.

I think the fact It was stored at the back of a garage for ages + the blue paint has stopped a lot of rust on this one, bit of rust to certain bolts but its not too bad. yet again its a bike I like but seems nobody else likes. once im done commuting on it ill just take the rack and bottle cage off and use it for the odd spin around the park or give it to my brother to reck.
