Calling All Orange C16R Owners

I picked up the chainset first with the red anodized spider then looked for the other matching pieces. I got the X-lites on here from RAFbikes, they were NOS sealed in plastic :D . Didn't take that long to aquire the bits really (a few months), was quite fortunate with that.

I have dropped my C16-r off at Orange today for a respray.

I think it is a 1997 model, I have had it since new but it was in the shop for a few years before I bought it around 14? years ago.

It is equipped with an LX groupset and FIR rims.

When it comes back to me from Orange it will be finished in Apple Green. Not sure what the original colour is called although Moss Green rings a bell......

First post on Retrobike... this is my C16R, owned one like this from new in IIRC 97. XS frame, Q21R forks, STX rear mech, LX the rest, orange components, Mavic217 rim on the rear, cheap steel on the front (guess what happened to the 217 front...). Might do a full rebuild once my road bike is back in service (Giant TCR Compact Road ONCE).

Here is my 9 years old son's C16R  Finished since a few monthes, even if it's a little too long for him (need o find a shorter stem  ), he prefer riding this rather than his 24" wheeled HardRock.

My C16-R

Found at a garage sale. Put new rear wheel, tyres, seat / seat-post, adjustable handlebar stem, handlebars and grips on.

Was amazed how light and quick it is. But I can't get over the fact it isn't far away from being 20 years old!! With some proper TLC it should live another 20...
