Are those tyres 1.8 or 2.1 & how do you find them?
They're 2.1 F&R. I like them, this bike doesn't get used too much, so haven't found out what they're like in "proper slop", but they're a lot of fun in loose, loamy woods, I can really flick the back end out nicely and pop it back in with confidence!

Been commuting on the old steed a few days a week this summer. Nice ride out up 'dale. Mixture of lanes and bridleways.

Re: 1994 Kona Lava Dome - NEW PICS Page 3

Do you find the splashbacks clear the stays properly, only reason i ask is im running 1.8 SB's on my 98 caldera, and as offroad tyres for my 93 Lava Dome, and im considering 2.1's but the 1.8's are quite wide for their size and im worried about frame contact!

My 1.8's are a bit skittish i find, but ChrisV40 was riding some 2.1's on our sunday ride this weekend and he said theyre really good and confidence inspiring, hence my looking into the bigger size!

Im loving your 94 btw, ive got one upstairs im slowly rebuilding to take over commuter duties from my 93 LD, mine wont be as clean as yours though, im aiming for a full lx build, only need a few more bits too!

But enough of my drivvel cluttering your thread up i think lol!

Re: 1994 Kona Lava Dome - NEW PICS Page 3

Cheers for the compliments. I've not had problems with clearance, but then, I've not taken the bike out in the winter so proper mud hasn't been involved yet. I've got a modern hardtail for those duties...
I'd imagine if I did get it fully clarted up, then yes, clearance would be an issue. But then, when you get to that point on any bike, it is, eh?

Re: 1994 Kona Lava Dome - NEW PICS Page 3

That sounds good then, ive had clearance issues before with the rear where the flex in the wheel would allow the tyre to rub the frame on hard pedalling or sharp cornering!
